BEIJING (AP) — Australia and China signed a series of cooperation agreements on Tuesday at the start of a visit by Prime Minister Julia Gillard intended to boost ties and smooth over recent spats with her country's top export market.
Gillard's trip is her first to China since taking over as Australian prime minister in June and seeks to set a new tone for relations following disputes over human rights and Chinese investment under her predecessor, current Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd.
