FED: Conservationists have a lot to answer for, says Katter

Queensland Federal MP BOB KATTER says conservationists are partly responsible for
Australia's world record youth suicide rate.

Mr KATTER, the member for Kennedy in north Queensland, says green activists have forced
regional industries to close.

He says there's been a similar upward trend of youth unemployment and youth suicide over
the past 30 years.

He's told AAP the hardship of unemployment has resulted in young people becoming so unhappy
that they decide they would rather be dead.

Mr KATTER says Australia has the highest youth suicide rate in the world and at least part
of the blame lies with conservationists.





He says the green movement wants to close down Queensland's sugar industry even though the
industry has adopted magnificent conservation practices.
